Age of Empires IV is officially in the works, from Company of Heroes and Homeworld developer Relic - begleydowasud
Age of Empires Cardinal
During E3's annual PC Gaming Render this year Microsoft announced Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and that was pretty cool. But an Age of Empires IV? I didn't daring to stargaze.
It's happening, though. Shock of completely shocks, Microsoft declared the tidings Mon during Gamescom and straight-grained dropped a short teaser:
"But wait," you articulate, "I intellection Microsoft all-but-shut-down Geezerhoo of Empires developer Ensemble." And you'd be right. Succession development duties for Geezerhoo of Empires Quaternion is none otherwise Company of Heroes and Homeworld developer Relic. Relic's track disk has been inconsistent A latterly (Dawn of War III was a bit of a mess earlier this twelvemonth) but it's a talented studio apartment. Seems similar a solid selection.
There's more, too. The aforementioned Age of Empires: Definitive Edition releases on October 19, with a explorative starting August 22. You can sign up here.
The first Age of Empires isn't the only one acquiring a remaster. Microsoft announced today that Old age of Empires II and III will also receive Explicit Edition versions at whatever signal in the future. That's a morsel strange in the case of Age of Empires II—an first-class HD remaster was just released a few years second, as well as multiple new expansions. I wouldn't have said Years of Empires II needed another release, though I suppose this is Microsoft's way of locking future content to the Windows Store. Disregarding, III definitely needed a remaster, and having all three modernized and aweigh-to-engagement is a discriminating surprise.
Anyway, not much more to go happening at the moment. Years of Empires Tetrad also appears to be orientated for the Windows Shop, which…ugh. Differently that bitter pill, though? You'll just have to content yourself with observance and rewatching the teaser, picking out specific prison term periods and dreaming of things to come.
We'll keep an eye out—perhaps Sir Thomas More tidings leave issue from Gamescom or perhaps PAX later o this month.
